Most people don't want to go out and spend 500 dollars on a satellite system and then deal with the headache of it going down every couple months. I've been there, I've got 4 satellites attached to my house right now. At first I went legit, and went with a legal system and paid the regular monthly fee and everything.
I was spending about 150 dollars a month watching all the great programming I wanted. But I got to a point were it was getting quite un-affordable. I mean I love television and the programming was great, but hey, who really wants to pay that much a month. Especially when you know all your neighbors are getting the same service for free.
